Saeed Gamhawi (b. 1972) is a Saudi visual artist whose conceptual works delve into social, heritage, and religious issues in his community. Inspired by his surroundings, Gamhawi often employs mixed media and technology in his practice, having explored the art movements of Realism and Surrealism early in his career.
Gamhawi began his artistic journey after graduating from the Institute of Art Education, Riyadh in 1990. He went on to teach art in schools for over two decades in Jeddah, before founding his own practice, Raseef Studio, in Riyadh.
The artist gained significant recognition following his participation in the Noor Riyadh Festival in 2021 with his work My Mother’s Rug (2021), a light projection highlighting domestic migration in the Kingdom. He has exhibited in Argentina, Uruguay, the United States and the Gulf, including a solo show, Engraved, at Sharjah Art Museum, Sharjah (2024) and a group show, Hafla, at Sotheby’s, London (2024).
