Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art

SAMoCA

In a significant milestone, the Ministry of Culture inaugurated the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art (SAMoCA) in 2023, positioning it as a central hub for contemporary art and a catalyst for cultural enrichment. The first collection on display was part of the traveling Bienalsur, the International Contemporary Art Biennial of South America, under the theme “Imagine: Dreams, Utopias, Fantasies,” which launched in July 2022, in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.

As the country’s first museum dedicated to contemporary art, SAMoCA serves as a dynamic space for showcasing the best practices and contemporary artworks from across the Kingdom and around the world. Through a range of programs and initiatives, the museum empowers local artists, providing them with opportunities to exhibit their work, network with peers, and engage in meaningful knowledge exchange.

SAMoCA’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting artistic innovation is evident in its multifaceted approach to cultural programming. By creating a supportive ecosystem for artistic growth and expression, SAMoCA plays a pivotal role in shaping the Kingdom’s cultural identity and enhancing its global reputation as a hub for creativity and innovation.
